Investing in Infrastructure
Lake Elsinore is committed to improving city streets, signals, parks, waterways, and public facilities through the city's Capital Improvement Program (CIP). These improvements help improve daily life for city residents and make it easier to do business in the city.
Major projects currently underway include:
I-15 Main Street Interchange Project
The Interstate 15 (I-15) Main Street Interchange serves as a primary entry point for residents and visitors alike who come to visit Historic Downtown Lake Elsinore to enjoy dining, shopping, and events throughout the year.
This $8 million construction project is being funded with the City's Measure Z Funding, Measure A Regional Arterial (MARA) Funding from the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC), and by State Highway Operation and Protection Program (SHOPP) from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
Improvements:
- Widening of Main Street through the interchange
- New traffic signals at on- and off-ramps on Main Street and at Camino Del Norte
- Northbound and southbound I-15 ramp widening
- Metering at on-ramps
- Tieback walls at abutments
- Illuminated underpass art panels
I-15 State Route 74 Interchange Project
Working with Caltrans, the City of Lake Elsinore proposes improvements to the Interstate 15 (I-15)/State Route 74 (SR-74) (Central Avenue) interchange. The $40,876,362 project will improve freight mobility, reduce congestion at the interchange and alleviate traffic in surrounding intersections.
Proposed Improvements:
- Construction of a northbound loop entry ramp with acceleration/deceleration lanes
- Realignment of the northbound entry/exit ramps
- Widening of the southbound entry/exit ramps, including acceleration/deceleration lanes
- Widening of SR 74 from Riverside Drive to Central Avenue from two to four lanes
- Widening of Collier Avenue to Cambern Avenue from six to eight lanes
- Construction of the Riverside Drive overcrossing and road extensions
